Radio Message Priority

Fire & Rescue NSW and Rural Fire Service Message Priorities

Yellow: Low Priority Message, Non Operational Message (General, Non-Incident Related Communications)

Green: Medium Priority Message, Incident Stop Message 

Blue: High Priority Message, Incident/Operational Message

White: Report of an Unknown Incident 

Red: Highest Priority Message

(RFS Only - Emergency: Life Threatening Event) 

 

Radio Codes

Code 1: Responding to Incident

Code 2: Called Off Incident (No Longer Required to Respond)

Code 3: On Scene at Incident

Code 4: Available for Response

Code 5: Returned to Station

Code 6: Entered Rural Fire Service Area

Code 7:  Unavailable to Respond (Reason Required)

AFA Reported Fire

100: An actual fire reported by the activation of an AFA detection or fire sprinkler system

AFA False Alarm

702: Alarm operated due to extreme weather conditions – rain, storm, lightning, thunder, dust, flood, rainwater leaking onto detector, etc

706: Council or water supply authority causes pressure fluctuation through water mains

707: Alarm operated due to power surge/spike or short circuit, blackout

Malicious/Mischievous False Alarm 

711: (See code 762 for accidental or good intent calls)

Suspected Malfunction

731: Sprinkler suspected malfunction – eg loss of pressure and equipment faults

732: Smoke detector suspected malfunction – eg continuous or intermittent fault in detector or FIP (defective apparatus)

733: Heat detector suspected malfunction – eg continuous or intermittent fault in detector, or FIP (defective apparatus)

738: Alarm system suspected malfunction – eg fault in wiring, alarm panel, poor maintenance, etc (fault in system)

Suspected Malfunction in Private Alarm System

745: False alarms generated from a non-AFASP monitored alarm system – domestic premises (alarm bell ringing)

746: False alarm generated from a non-AFASP monitored alarm system – commercial premises (alarm bell ringing)

Simulated Conditions (No Fire)

751: Smoke detector operated – no fire – smoke from external source – eg bushfire

752: Heat detector operated – no fire – eg heat from oven, dryer, heater, hair straightener, etc

756: Cooking fumes – eg toast, foodstuffs, etc

758: Simulated conditions – eg incense, candles, sparklers, smoke machine, smokers materials, etc

Unintentional Alarms (Not Due to Suspected Malfunction)

762: Unintentional alarm – eg accidental activation of Break Glass Alarm or Manual Control Point, damaged sprinkler head not attributed to owner/occupant

764: Incorrect operation/service by servicing company personnel

765: Alarm activation due to workers/occupier activities

766: Alarm activation due to poor building maintenance – eg dust, cobwebs, damage, insects, etc

767: Alarm activation due to aerosol use – eg hair spray, insecticides, etc

768: Alarm activation due to steam – eg shower, bath, sauna, kettle, steam room, etc

Fire Indicator Panel

772: Fire Indicator Panel active, Alarm Signalling Equipment not activated

773: Fire Indicator Panel not active (includes system reset before arrival), Alarm Signalling Equipment activated
