NSW Fire Brigades Incident Ground
(Fireground)
Channel 510 is used by the NSWFB as its initial simplex channel on arrival at an incident. As incidents grow in size the incident commander may then allocate other simplex channels to individual sectors. Channels 501 to 505 are no longer often used, these are a legacy from the old pre-GRN Bendix King handhelds no longer used by the NSWFB. The channels are still available for use in exceptional circumstances. Channel 511 to 513 are used with portable repeater units (known as PIGRs) and the ICVs. Channel 511 is used at major Sydney shopping centres to provide incident ground comms. Currently these are at Penrith, Parramatta, and Miranda Fair Westfields, Blacktown Westpoint, and Warringah Mall. These are likely to become more common. |
